I transitioned from public relations to copywriting when I joined the Creative Services department of Merle Norman Cosmetics. Always eager to contribute and learn new skills, I dove into the skincare and cosmetics industry. As part of the headquarters of an international franchise business, I interfaced with an internal creative team and multiple departments, from sales to customer service. I wrote both B2C and B2B copy (including executive messaging)—a role that helped me hone the skill of creating salable copy in both long and short form.
My beauty and freelance experience proved beneficial when an e-commerce hair care company sought me out. After a one-on-one interview with eSalon's chief executive officer, I joined the acquisitions team as a freelance copywriter. The journey was a joyful pivot towards more ad-based copy to drive sales.
